Solinftec's Solix Sprayer robot reduces the herbicides applied up to 95% during its first commercial crop in the United States

The company intends to grow by fivefold on North American soil through their robotics technology which will be exhibited at Solinftec exhibition booth at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur (IL), from August 29th to 31st

Decatur (IL), USA, August 2023 - Solinftec, a global leader in artificial intelligence solutions and sustainable agricultural practices, is at the Farm Show Progress, in Decatur (IL), in the United States, where the company will be showing the latest technology on Solix AG Robotics Platform. The ag technology company also has recently reinforced partnerships with the North American agricultural cooperatives of Carroll FS, Co-Alliance, and Premier Ag, which have already tested the first results generated by the Sprayer solution in their crops.

Through the alliances, Solinftec expects to expand its presence in the United States by fivefold. The company is also announcing $ 5 million of investment directed to its manufacturing efforts, including its factory in Indiana. Through the expansion, Solinftec will have the capacity to produce up to 800 units of robots annually. The company already has 300 producers waiting for Solix and has opened a waiting list to any more interested parties. Visit Solix.

The Sprayer robot will be on display at the event. After a limited scale commercial pilot year, the solution saw up to 95% optimization of herbicides applied, while keeping the fields clean of invasive weeds and maintaining a sustainable production from pre-planting to harvest.

The Solix Sprayer is also able to make precise and targeted applications of herbicides, allowing efficient control of weeds and preventing their spread and competition for nutrients with the target crop. Another great efficiency in the Sprayer is its capacity to reduce drift during the handling of herbicides, since it is a lighter machine, with the application process operating at a lower speed, with greater boom stability.

The Sprayer works integrated with the ALICE artificial intelligence platform, which is capable of providing the most appropriate paths for wind speed and the best times for spraying crops. The Sprayer is supported by four solar panels that control its drive system and spray system, providing reports on crop populations; weed identification and densities; spray maps with input analysis, among other map layers for data analysis 24/7. The sprayer's reservoir tanks hold 40 gallons.

To help refill Solix Sprayer, a stand-alone docking station is provided and can be implemented either permanently in the field, or installed in trucks or trailers, according to the operations planned. The base of the docking station incorporates on-board electronics and is self-sufficient in terms of energy, being powered by solar panels, eliminating the need for external power sources. Automatic integration with the robot makes it possible not only to refill, but also to change chemicals and perform cleaning procedures. Utilizing compressed air, the docking station efficiently removes product residue, ensuring effective contamination prevention.

Co-Alliance, Carroll FS and Premier Ag

About 20 robots roamed the US corn belt in 2023 and proved the effectiveness of the Sprayer solution, reducing herbicide volume on US crops by up to 95% through targeted applications and elimination of weeds in their early stages.

"Co-Alliance, Carroll FS and Premier Ag are at the forefront of agricultural technology in the United States by adopting Solix, they realized the potential to change the way they price services to American producers", says Leonardo Carvalho, director of global strategy from Solinftec. "Using the traditional model, American cooperatives buy agrochemicals directly from crop protection companies and offer spraying services along with the product that will be handled in the field", he explains.

With Solix, there is the possibility of changing the way the service is charged, not based on the volume of pesticides applied, but on cleared Acres. This means a combination of factors such as an area free of competing weeds, better productivity per acre and the possibility of establishing a fixed value, since the choice of product to be applied by Solix platform is up to the Cooperative", guarantees Carvalho.

"Through these partnerships, we demonstrate our ability to democratically serve the most diverse businesses, enabling agility in decision-making, delivering a significant reduction in agricultural pesticides and providing sustainability to our customers' businesses as a new way of managing the American corn belt" , adds Guilherme Guiné, Head of Operations at Solinftec in North America.

"Modern agriculture needs technologies like Solinftec that redefine the way business and spraying is done today," notes Noah Freeman, senior director at YieldPro at Co-Alliance. "The economic and sustainability benefits generated by Solix in our operations are evident," says Ryan Priest, Chief Operating Officer at Premier. "We could clearly see the benefits that Solinftec's expertise can bring to American agriculture," explains Chase Sellnow, general manager of Carroll Service Company. "By adopting this robotic technology, we see the potential for a future shift in the way we conduct our business."
In addition to these cooperatives, WHIN (Wabash Heartland Innovation Network) is also a partner with Solinftec and will continue to use the technology among its members in the next season.

Particularly small and cost-effective: Market launch of the uEye XLS cameras

Image processing opens up a wide range of possibilities for the automation of modern agriculture - but what to do when only a small budget is available? That is where the uEye XLS comes in. With the launch of these super-small industrial cameras, even price-sensitive applications and volume projects become feasible. Measuring just 29 x 29 x 7 mm, the compact cameras offer excellent imaging characteristics without excessive heat generation, making them a perfect fit for embedded vision applications in agricultural machinery and equipment. The industrial cameras comply with the vision standard and are available with Micro-B connectors and with or without C/CS or S-mount lens holders, further increasing their adaptability to different agricultural environments. Thanks to these features, the cameras offered by IDS Imaging Development Systems lower the barriers to entry and make it easier to explore the potential of vision technology to optimize agricultural processes.
